Our Values

The core values of Revive can be captured in 4 words:

Know, Do, Be, Free

In Jeremiah 29:4-7 (specifically v7) God commands the exiled Jews not to fight, withdraw, or flee, but to live fully and flourish where they are at. God’s command to them then and to Christians now is to seek the common good and thriving of their local community – even in enemy land – for generations.

This is our call to be deeply rooted within our community, seeking as Christ followers to nurture new life within our community and our neighborhood. So Revive church exists to bring our neighborhoods back into life-giving relationship with Jesus, and to be an intentional part of the community restoration and flourishing that comes from people who live wholeheartedly for God and for neighbor.

We are unashamedly Christ-centered, and knowing him is the guiding purpose of our gatherings. We are formed by Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, and together we strive to embody those beliefs. Every action and value flows from the nature and character of who we understand Christ to be.

Christ-Centered (Know)

Neighboring Together (Do)

We exist to participate in the flourishing of those around us. We care about thriving neighbors and neighborhoods. The person of Christ at our center shapes our mission as neighbors (Luke 4). Our gospel should be good news to the poor, the incarcerated, the hurting, and the oppressed. We desire to see wholeness in our community for all people.

Choosing Welcome (Be)

We are people of peace, regardless of tribe or social dividing lines. The early church was known for its welcome of all believers: Rich and poor, male and female, Gentile and Jew—people who had no business being in the same room otherwise gathered around the Table as equals (Galatians 3:28). We will intentionally include those at our table who have experienced exclusion.

Pursuing Justice (Free)

In the same way that we have been reconciled to Christ, we will pursue justice that is both vertical and horizontal, reconciling humanity to God, one another, and all of creation. For we once far off and now have been brought near to Christ–and therefore to one another (Eph 2). We are bound together into the family of God which requires seeking shalom and carrying one another’s burdens.
